Dr. Cameron Carmody, M.D., PA

Born and raised in Fresno, California, Dr. Carmody received both his baccalaureate, medical degree and orthopedic training from the University of California at Irvine where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. He completed a full, one year Fellowship scholarship devoted exclusively to spinal reconstructive surgery, which included state-of-the-art techniques of minimally- invasive spinal surgery. He has been a practicing physician and surgeon since 1996. Happily married since 1988, he is the proud father of two sons. Dr. Carmody relocated to Plano in 2001 and is fond of saying, "I may not have been born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could!"
"The treatment of spinal disorders is very interesting and satisfying work. Medical and surgical advances over the past 20 years have allowed better diagnoses and more effective treatments than ever before. In most cases, back and neck pain can and should be treated non-operatively., but those patients that fail to improve conservatively can expect improvement with surgery, provided an accurate diagnosis is made. Every effort needs to be made to identify the source of the problem prior to surgery in order to predict a better outcome for my patient. My goal is to accurately diagnose your problem and offer you the most effective treatments available to you."
"An accurate diagnosis allows less invasive surgery to be performed when surgery is needed. The idea is to achieve the goal of surgery while doing the least amount of damage to the surrounding structures. Many times these techniques allow surgery to be done on an outpatient basis or during one overnight stay at the hospital."
Dr. Carmody was awarded the prestigious U.C. Regents Scholarship in medical school and is a member of AOA. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific presentations and publications.
